SIL-IRE : On-board software and multicores : opportunities and issues

Mainstream computing tends, for several years, to massively deploy and use multicore processors.

This kind of processors enables to supply more processing power for a lower consumption, cancelling finally the race to an always increasing processor frequency.

In critical real-time systems, we are almost forced to adopt them, to keep in touch with the evolutions of electronics. But our main constrain is still to commit on performances, whatever the cases. These multicore processors propose us a challenge that consists in maintaining our confidence in real-time commitments of our software with a more in more indeterminist hardware.

In response to these issues, this workshop aims at gathering specialists from embedded software to share on needs, issues, and potential solutions.
